GreenPlus, a leading Korean smart farm company, recently hosted a Queensland trade delegation, introducing them to the cutting-edge smart farm technologies being developed in Korea. The visit, which took place from the 4th to the 8th of March, marks the first official event since Green Plus signed a business agreement with the University of Queensland last year.
The trade group was given a comprehensive tour of the GreenPlus headquarters, vertical farms, and the innovative agricultural valleys of Sangju and Gimje. This provided them with a firsthand experience of the advanced smart farm technology and capabilities that are currently being implemented in Korea.
Australia has recently embraced smart farm technology in response to the growing demand and technological advancements in the global agricultural market. This move aims to enhance productivity and profitability, with the Australian Government planning to develop agriculture into an industry worth approximately $100 billion by 2030.
Steve Kim, Head of Green Plus Australia, commented on the visit, “The Australian smart farm market is still in its growth stage, and the ecosystem is yet to be fully established. The trade group showed particular interest in the Smart Farm Innovation Valley, especially in the educational and rental start-up support provided to nurture young farmers.”
Kim further added, “Green Plus has a strong competitive edge in smart vertical farms. We aim to pioneer new businesses and expect rapid growth, striving to become the leading company in this field.”
