Dangjin City, South Chungcheong Province – Green Plus Co. Ltd. (186230.KQ) proudly announces the official commissioning of their cutting-edge smart farm system, spanning 2.8 hectares of advanced glasshouse with automated vertical farm. The facility, operated by GreenPlus subsidiary Green K-Farm, integrates vertical farming, moving gullies, and state-of-the-art automation to cultivate an array of produce, including leafy greens, salads, vegetables, chives, and strawberries.

The smart farm complex, designed for year-round production, caters to both the domestic Korean market and online stores. Featuring value-added manufacturing capabilities for chives and kimchi, the facility achieves full integration from germination to food manufacturing.

The smart farm optimises production efficiency through the implementation of a unique up-down gully system. This innovative approach allows the growing channel to move vertically, expanding the growing surface area and eliminating the need for access space between rows. Merging agriculture and mechanical engineering, this moving bed system significantly reduces labor costs, paving the way for increased profitability.

“The newly opened smart farm precinct is poised to generate approximately $11 million AUD in annual sales, contributing to GreenPlus’s stellar performance in 2024.”GreenPlus.

Anticipating substantial global demand, GreenPlus already has orders for smart farms across the Asia/Pacific region, including Australia, Thailand, and Japan, with additional demonstrations planned in the Middle East. The official emphasised, “This smart farm precinct marks Korea’s introduction to futuristic vertical farming after two years of meticulous research and development. It positions GreenPlus as a trailblazer in the smart farm industry, aiming for global leadership and the widespread adoption of advanced smart farms.”
